With their fifth release, Green Day made perhaps their best ever album. Although criticised by some for edging towards a slightly poppier sound, the band refused to pander to their fans desire for a straight ahead punk album. Having said that, there are no ballads on the album, mostly driving infectious rockers - pure fun.
